Meet the Photographer - Grayson Harris
Growing up, I’ve always had a passion for photography and capturing meaningful memories. I remember using a small digital camera to take photos of everyday moments, family gatherings, and special events. As I entered college, I discovered photography courses that helped me develop my creative eye and technical skills behind the camera. The more I learned about photography, lighting, composition, and storytelling, I realized this was something I truly loved. What started as a personal interest quickly became a passion that motivated me to launch Grayson Flicks Photography and begin my journey as a Colorado photographer.
Photography has become more than just taking pictures for me — it’s about telling authentic stories and capturing real emotions. I love being able to freeze meaningful moments that people can look back on for years to come. Whether it’s documenting an important milestone, capturing genuine interactions, or simply preserving a memory, I believe photography has the power to create lasting connections and emotions.
My mission behind the camera is to create images that feel natural, timeless, and meaningful while giving people an experience that feels comfortable and genuine. I’m inspired by candid moments, natural light, human connection, and the beauty found in everyday life. Every session and every photo is an opportunity for me to continue growing creatively while capturing memories that truly matter.
Beyond Photography: Running, Travel, and Family
Outside of photography, long-distance running and traveling are two of the biggest passions in life. Coming from a big family of nine siblings, with seven of them being adopted, has created a unique and meaningful family dynamic that has shaped personal values, perspective, and appreciation for human connection. Running has been a major part of life since high school, eventually leading to competing at the NCAA Division III collegiate level in cross country and track for four years. Running has become more than just exercise — it is a way to relieve stress, improve mental health, and explore new places from a completely different perspective. There is something rewarding about traveling through a city on foot, discovering hidden streets, scenic views, and everyday moments that often go unnoticed when driving. The discipline, consistency, and mindset developed through years of competitive running also influence the approach behind the camera: patience, dedication, and appreciation for authentic moments.
Traveling has also played a major role in shaping personal perspective and creativity. Having the opportunity to visit seven different countries has allowed exposure to unique cultures, traditions, people, and ways of life. Experiencing different environments and cultures brings inspiration into photography by helping create a deeper appreciation for genuine human connection, storytelling, and emotion. Exploring new places continues to inspire creativity and the ability to see beauty in both large milestones and small everyday moments.
One of the strongest personal traits is the ability to communicate fluently in both Chinese and English. Chinese is the native language, while English became a second language through years of learning and experience. Being bilingual has helped create meaningful connections with people from different backgrounds and cultures, while also building strong communication skills that are valuable during photography sessions and client interactions.
Meeting new people is one of the most enjoyable and rewarding parts of photography. As an outgoing and extroverted person, building relationships and creating a comfortable experience for clients comes naturally. Photography is not only about taking photos — it is about capturing genuine emotions, meaningful memories, and once-in-a-lifetime moments. Whether documenting a wedding day, engagement session, or family portrait, the goal is always to create an experience where people feel comfortable, confident, and truly themselves in front of the camera.
Connecting with people, hearing their stories, and preserving their most important memories is one of the biggest reasons photography became such a meaningful passion.
